Donegal to Isle of Man via Public Transportation

I plan to spend six weeks at Oideas Gael in SE Donegal, Ireland, next summer, working on my Irish. The recommendation of the teachers at the school is that you do no more than three weeks at a time, so I'm planning to do two three-week blocks with a week in between.

I'd like to travel to the Isle of Man during that time and am wondering what my travel options are, since I won't have a car. I would prefer not to fly--I'm definitely not afraid of flying; I just prefer trains, ferries, even buses. Can anyone advise me?

Thanks!

There are 2 ferries a week from Belfast to Douglas in the summer on Sunday and Wednesday, with additional sailings on some Saturdays. Times vary. Look at http://www.steam-packet.com

Belfast route
Step one would be from Tralee to Dublin via train http://www.irishrail.ie/media/05-DublinTralee250920131.pdf for the timetable After 0700 changing trains at Mallow is required.
Step two is is to take the LUAS red line from out front of Heuston station to in front of Connolly Station. If only trains available are to the Point the Busarus stop is close by.
Step three is to take the train from Dublin Connolly to Belfast Central http://www.irishrail.ie/media/09-DublinBelfast250920131.pdf for the timetable.

There are also ferry services as well from Dublin ferry port which is at t the eastern edge of the city so a taxi would be simplest to get to the ferry port from Heuston.

Ferry information is available at http://www.steam-packet.com/

Please note that these services are seasonal in nature.
