Well you get a prize for a misleading headline

They re-branding, I’m not sure what that has to do with being “done” with it. Done with it sounds like you are not planning to use them anymore

"Done" implies its done with loco2, they exist no more, they are history.

I got an e-mail from them announcing this, effective November. They are being merged into Rail Europe.
Sounds like bad news. Loco2 was one of two independent companies, both started by a groups of young people as a response to how awful the rail-company websites were. They offered one-stop for multi-country tickets, which the national websites did not do.
They were commission-free; and they covered most (but not all) rail networks in Western Europe.

As Rail Europe is a North American operation, which charges commission and only lists some trains, there is a risk what was loco2 will in future suffer from the same faults.

The other "independent" was Capitaine Train, which then got Anglicised as Captain Train, and was taken over by Trainline. Trainline was previously UK-only, buying Captain Train allowed them to expand into Europe.

I too suspect this is bad news.
I'm don't see how this is a rebranding--it looks like they are disappearing into Rail Europe and their (usually) high fees.

This is sad and frustrating news. Loco2 was always my first go to when I couldn't work with a country specific train website. I've always avoided Rail Europe. Any pricing I've done has Rail Europe prices much higher than the country specific pricing. It will be interesting to see what happens with the pricing.

So, Doug, you are saying that the answers people took time to write are worthless and should be removed?

Why not suggest editing the title, if Estimated Prophet wanted to?

Thanks for the heads-up, Estimated. Once I waded through the marketing-speak, I’m wondering if SNCF really just pulled the plug on LOCO2s contract to resell SNCF products. SNCF wanting to limit sales of their fares to their wholly owned subsidiaries. Will Trainline be next? Nigel, you’re the expert here...please, what is your read on this?

Edited to add: here is the Seat 61 take on the news https://www.seat61.com/news.htm

I might be, in some small way, an expert on English trains, but I certainly am no expert on French ones. I ride them enough but I'm no expert.

I always bow to Mark at Seat 61.

Seat61 reports there will be a fee of £4.95 added to each order (not a per-ticket fee) beginning in November.

And please, please Mr Estimated, do not ever delete a thread. That is disrespectful to the other posters who have put in effort answering, and is something that I do not think should be allowed.

Nothing wrong with the title.

When I saw the headline, my clear understanding was that the poster was personally done with Loco2. And now that I've read the link, I certainly understand why. The only thing I don't understand is how can a company "rebrand" as an already existing company.

Merde, as we say hereabouts. Not a small fee either, unless you're buying lots of tickets in one fell swoop! So, back to Trainline I guess, even though they also started charging credit card fees to overseas buyers?
Or, for France at least, I find the Oui SNCF app (not the website) to be much better than it used to be.
