I have reserved the car before the travel via Europcar Homepage..
The brand of car was LynK & Co.
Then the price was 1038.54 euro and there was the words, “Guaranteed price”
But when I visited the Paris (CDG airport) Europcar office to receive the car, the officer told to me “The price is 1466.16 euro”
Of course, I appealed the difference of the price with the reservation confirmation document
But he told “1038.54 euro is not correct, it is our company's system error", and demanded the changed price stiffly.
Because of the tour schedule, I could not figure out sufficiently.
I could not help paying 1466.16 euro.
If this indeed happened, I'm sorry about that, but I have never had that experience with Europcar, and I've rented from them on several occasions. They are not my favorite rental company but I've never had extra fees tacked on, although they have tried to upsell on occasion.
Many first-time posters come here with complaints, and without any prior history of you and your travels, it's hard to put this in context. Did you pay a deposit? Most rental car companies require one if you want a confirmed reservation. If you did not, it's possible they did not consider it confirmed and were free to charge another price. Or it's possible it was an extra fee for something that was in your original booking but did not notice.
insurances, damage waiver deposit maybe?
I've never heard of a car called "LynK & Co". Is it possible that the type of car you reserved was not available? Did you actually get a LynK & Co car? What class is it in? Is that the class you reserved?
Are we talking current, like you actually have the car now, or some time in the past?
Most Rental car companies do not guarantee they make and model of the car you’re going to get. The one you see in the reservation page is generally an example of what is in that class for the car company
Now, if you have the confirmation from your reservation with all the payment information and the agreement from the rental car company, you can compare it and see where the difference occurred. And then you can file dispute with your credit card for the difference. I had to do this when Hertz decided one time, it was spring break and they were charging twice as much in Orlando. They had to back down.
Of course, if you only wanted a certain type of car, it’s possible that you had to go up in classification to get that brand. Or if you got there and asked for something that you hadn’t put on the reservation for example you would like an automatic transmission. Also, did your pick up and return times agree with what you put on the reservation. Sometimes people think it’s OK if they arrive a couple hours early or return a couple hours late and the truth is that’s probably going to cost you more money. The other thing that can often change is the taxes so you need to look at that. If the taxing authority adds new taxes, then the rental car company is able to pass those on.
@Nigel. Lynk & Co is a real car company (Chinese & Swedish) owned by Geely. I rented one in Italy and it was a very nice SUV.
@wook07, I have never used Ueropcar so I am sorry I can not be of help.
Then the price was 1038.54 euro and there was the words, “Guaranteed price”
If you have the document I would lodge an appeal with your credit card company.
A BBB complaint may be in order.
Have you contacted Europcar?
