we are going to Domdidier Switzerland for Veteran's World Wrestling end of July. Is there anything there, i can't even find a hotel there. how about trains? would like to go to Italy the following week. Any advice on renting a car and driving it there and leaving it?
Renting a car in one country and dropping it off in another can be very pricey - there are usually large drop-off fees. Your rental agency can tell how much it would be.

Domdidier does have rail service. Check at http://www.sbb.ch/en/index.htm for schedule details. I highly recommend restricting your travel to public transportation. Check out the Swiss Rail Pass which will provide you with unlimited service on rail, postal bus, boat and streetcar. That pass must be purchased here before you leave. Getting down to Italy will be a snap by rail. It's only a few hour journey from Zurich. As far as hotels are concerned, do your research online rather than through a travel agent or a hotel booking site. There are a number of locally owned hotels in the Domdidier area. Check the neighboring communities like Avenches. Good luck and have a great visit.
