Dogs on Trains

You won't find a European wide answer for this, the rules will vary by country.

I believe you can take dogs on the train in the Netherlands.

Are there baggage cars that a dog can be brought as checked baggage?

Dogs are also allowed on all trains in Denmark, every train has at least one dog free compartment, though.

I also saw the pettravel.com page that says they are allowed. I really wish the breeder was more helpful, though she admitted that her English wasn't very good.

Sometimes I think European breeders just don't want to sell to Americans.

As previously told, dogs are allowed on all trains in Denmark. The rules are as follows: each passenger can bring only one dog. Normally dogs shout sit on the floor, and if you make reservations, you can reserve the seat in front of you or next to you for the dog (but the dog still goes on the floor). You should pay a child ticket for a dog. Dogs are not allowed in first class and in the dog-free zones on the train because of people with allergies. Small dogs that fit into a purse or a handbag do not need a ticket.
