does rome-munich go through long tunnels? milan-zurich?

I have problems with my ears going through long tunnels under mountains. Does the Rome-Munich night train go through many long tunnels? I assume Milan-Zurich does, which is why I was thinking of Rome-Munich instead. thanks, Elaine (ps-anyone with sensitive ears have more/less problems on either route?)

Either way, you still have to pass through the Alps, although I can't attest to the lack or presence of tunnels on either route.

Elaine: I agree with a previous poster that the Brenner Pass is used for either of the trips you are contemplating. I remember NO particularly long tunnels, only a few short ones, since the train winds up one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. It is a great train trip, especially the mountain section north of Bellinzona.

Elaine,

I suspect that on a Rome-Munich trip, you'll travel through Verona for the trip to Austria via the Brenner Pass. I've travelled that section but can't recall if there are any "long tunnels". If there were any tunnels, they were likely quite short.

There appears to be at least one train on that route with no changes (departing 19:10), reservations compulsory of course. Be sure to choose a train with as few changes as possible, so that you'll get a good sleep.

Happy travels!
