I am planning on going to Scotland and Ireland for the first time to see family sights and what not. I found cheaper fare to Ireland so I figured I would hike there first and then find a boat ride or something to Scotland. Does anyone know of any cheap transport to Scotland from Ireland?
To clarify, Ryanair's fares are as little as 5 GBP plus any applicable taxes and fees. The website will outline those for you.
Look at eurolines.com or nationalexpress.com if leaving from Scotland for bus information. Larger luggage allowance on bus and with all the Ryanair fees, could be close to the same price when all is told. Plus bus goes from downtown to downtown, usually, and if you fly you have to spend more to get from airport into town and visa-versa. Always figure total costs.
You can also fly Ryanair from Belfast to Scotland, if you're in Northern Ireland. From Belfast, you also have the option of a ferry to Scotland, if you don't get seasick and you want a little adventure.
I didn't realize it was possible to take a bus from Ireland to Scotland (or the other way). How does a bus get across the water?
Nancy,
"How does a bus get across the water?"
The Bus travels on a Ferry, often between Dublin and Wales. It's also possible to take a train - have a look at www.seat61.com/Ireland.htm for the details.
Cheers!
We flew Easy Jet from Belfast to Edinburgh. Barely airborne and you are preparing to land.
Thank you all for the quick responses! I really appreciate it.
Check out ferry crossings from Rosslare, Co. Wexford Ireland to Scotland.
