Do the European airports measure women's handbags?

My mom & I will be using Vueling and Aer Lingus while in Europe. She said she will probably take an oversized handbag to be used as a carry-on "luggage". Do they measure handbags? Should she be aware of the carry on requirements for that? My carry on seems to fit the requirements, and I was wondering about carrying my regular handbag....am I allowed to carry a handbag in addition to my carry on luggage?

It's always a good idea to check the website of each Airline you plan to travel with. That way you will know what to expect and not have any surprises at check-in.

I never assume that I can have a carryon AND a purse. If I am going to need a purse, I put it inside my carryon bag.

I always have a handbag/tote that will fit under the seat and a carry on wheelie that goes in overhead compartment. No one(in 15 yrs of travel) has ever measured the handbag/tote but it is a common practical size not oversized.
