I recently booked a car rental through Kayak, entering my insurance selections as I did so. When I got to the Avis rental desk in Bergen, Norway, I discovered that the insurance selections had been deleted. It cost an additional $167.50 for 5 days.
I had booked directly with Avis but cancelled because the Kayak search seemed to yield a better price. The booking directly with Avis, with the same insurance preferences, was $60 more ($533 v. $600) but the Kayak error cost $167.50 or $110.50 net. I tried contacting Kayak, but there don't appear to be any human beings there.
