Some people say get your tickets on the internet ahead of time. Others say this is either more expensive or cheaper. We are taking a train from london to stratford. I am wondering if it is easy to just show up and get tickets and if it is really s much more expensive to do so. thanks
I'm engaged to an ex-pat Brit and we were just in London for Christmas. That said, we would make reservations only if going very far (like Edinburgh) or during rush hour, but they still aren't necessity. I've never heard of anyone (British) buying the tickets online so I assume there are no savings.
It's super simple to get around England.
Have a good trip,

Standard price tickets are available up to the time of travel and are the most expensive option - but the price and availability doesn't fluctuate.
Some train operators, on some routes, offer advance purchase tickets. These generally have limited availability and limit you to a particular train but can be significantly cheaper.
If you can find a cheaper fare on the day you want to travel, and don't mind being locked into a time frame, then go for it. If not I'd buy on the day for the added flexibility.
P.s. If you are searching for tickets: Stratford is a London suburb, Stratford-upon-Avon is the place with all the Shakespeare stuff.
Polly - You should be able to show up and purchase tickets with no problems. You can also purchase advance tickets at www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com
