I'm going to need to fly between London and Seville and from Granada to Barcelona next May and started watching fares for the dates needed. Since I'm in no hurry, I was going to wait and see, but that got me wondering if the budget airlines bounce their fares around much. So far, after about a month, I have not seen any movement.
The general rule for budget airlines is the fares start low and then go up. The prices virtually never go down.
When bookings open the have the lowest "headline fares" which appear as the "from" price in the advertising. The nearer the flight date gets the higher the prices are. The more popular the flight is the faster the prices go up and the higher the prices end up. This is all done automatically by the booking computer.
So the golden rule is, book the flight as soon as you are prepared to commit to a date.
Agree with Chris. We recently book flights with easyJet. They follow exactly the same pattern as SWest does in the US. Offer some cheap, low fares to start and go up from there.
thanks
Warren
I have had the same experience as the others. Book ASAP, because it won't get cheaper.
