discount airlines

What is the best discount airline to use for a one way flight from London Heathrow to either Turin or Genoa, Italy? If returning to Milan, would I have better luck flying out of Turin or Genoa? (late April/early May) Thanks! Patricia

Patricia,

There is no airline that flies out of Heathrow to either of these cities.

Easyjet flies to Turin out of London's Luton airport.

There are buses every hour from Heathrow to Luton. Journey is about 1 1/2 hours.

Patricia,

I would suggest that you use a site like sidestep.com to search for flights. Use the code LON for London. This will include all of the London area airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, City, Stanstead, and Luton). When you enter the airport in Italy (e.g. Genoa), select the option "include nearby airports".

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions...I will follow up on them. I am only going to see the exhibition of the Shroud of Turin--probably first week of May. Since Steve's Italy guide does not cover Turin at all, I need recommendations for lodging and eating in Turin--only for 1 or 2 nights max. The Shroud is in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist which is in the vicinity of corso Regina Margharita (as near as I can tell). Any suggestions for single room w/private bath at reasonable price; also places to eat? From there I will go to Cinque Terre, but will check Helpline first for lodging recs there. Thanks.

Oops, guess I should have posted this under lodging. Will copy it there.
