I am researching flights on Kayak, Orbitz etc. for New York to Prague and return from Ljubljana. The out bound flight is NY to Zurich, Zurich to Prague. The return flight is Ljubljana to Zurich, then Zurich to NY. There is a note at the bottom of the return flight search result that "this flight leaves from a different airport". Does any one know what this means? From what I can tell, Zurich has only one airport.
It means that you are arriving in Europe at Prague, and returning to NY from Ljubljana.....a different airport. This type of flight is called "open jaw".
Lynn, check your New York DEPARTURE airport. Compare that with your New York ARRIVAL airport... I'm guessing you have some combo of JFK, LGA, or maybe even EWR... I recreated your flight search with the info given, and the first SEVERAL (!) flights departed from Newark, even thought I stated 'New York'; usually EWR shows up a bit later in the list in my experience... That could be a LOOOONG walk back to your car.
Thanks for the responses. I was concerned that some where in the itinerary there was a city with more than one airport and that my flight would arrive at one and the connecting flight would leave from the other. I can change planes, I can change terminals but changing airports is a bit more than I want to deal with...
"I was concerned that some where in the itinerary there was a city with more than one airport and that my flight would arrive at one and the connecting flight would leave from the other." At that stage of things, the airport abbreviations should be used (CDG, LGA, FCO, etc.), so double-check those. As I said, using Orbitz and Kayak and recreating your itinerary, the first several plans came up flying OUT of one NY-area airport, and INTO another NY-area airport. So check your flight CAREFULLY. It's a long walk between airports...
