Digital/Video and X-rays

Does anyone know if there are problems with sending digital cameras and compact video cameras (8mm tape) thru the x-ray machines? I plan on packing them both in my carry-on for security.

I am booked on a British Airways flight and there website states that digital camera images are not effected by the x-ray machines.

It depends a little bit. Digital and film are OK for the screening of hand luggage. But the new bomb detecting machines for checked luggaged will absolutely fry film and magnetic media. Problem is you don't know which airport are using the newer machines so keep it out of checked luggage.
