Difference in 1st & 2nd class on Rail France

My boyfriend & I will be traveling from Paris to Caen in late September. It's a short trip (approximately 2 hrs). I'd book 2nd class but he's insisting on 1st class. Other than price, what's the difference?

First class seats are a little bit wider.

Thanks, Michael. That's kinda what I thought. We decided it's not worth the ~50 euros extra for 1st class.
