Did not receive email from trenitalia

I made reservations for 2 train trips in Italy 4 days ago.
I have not received an email from trenitalia with the PNR. I have checked junk mail. I made the reservations without signing in. I printed out the information when I made the purchase and it has a retrieval code for each reservation. Is that all I need? Do I need to get the PNR at a train station in Italy? I did confirm that my credit card was charged.

We've been seeing situations where travelers who have not registered with the site and have chosen to proceed without registering have not received the full ticket. Did you fully register? What they do receive is a document with a retrieval code on it. There appears to be a process to go online and get your actual ticket with the PNR code using this retreival code but I don't know how to do it. Others may know this process.

Donald, here is a response from Nancy from Baton Rouge from April of this year on this subject. My email had the following wording: Caution: you made a purchase without being registered.
With the information in this mail, through this this link You can access the functionality display purchase, exchange and refund reservation. When I clicked "this link" in that paragraph, it took me to a web page that had another link that had the .pdf file, so you might have to click a little bit to get what looks like the image in the previous post (very helpful, thanks!). Hopefully, this can help.

Donald, here's a LINK to another thread in which I do have an answer. This solution may work better.

Donald, let's try this again. The Javascript link to another RS thread doesn't seem to work. So, here's the URL. http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm?topic=84752 Here's the text. Try bringing up the www.trenitalia.com main page. Go to Customers Area. At Customer's Area, select Online Purchases Management. At the bottom center, click on "If you bought without signing in". In the lower box on the right, click on Retrieve Purchase. A third box comes up that says Recovery Code. I realize that you have a Retrieval Code but, that's as close as I can get you for the moment. Here's a LINK to a nice article by Ron in Rome. (This link seems to work).

thanks for the information. that appears to be the correct area. I entered my name and retrieval code for the first trip and it was to send me an email, but 6 hours later and I still have not received it. I entered the information for the second trip and receive: Codice di errore : 160 Non è possibile inviare nuovamente l'email; nome e/o cognome non corretti Which I think means: error code 160 Name, surname or email is incorrect. Any idea how long before I receive the information for the 1st trip? Any idea how to preceed for the 2nd trip where I get the error?

Larry, I went to the link you provided: http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm?topic=84752 and found this post. "I did the same thing the 1st time I booked on the website. Here's what I did: I went onto the customer page that the previous reply mentions, and entered the retrieval code. At some point, you can have the reservation sent to another person's email address. I put in my wife's address and the reservation, with PNR code, was sent to that address. Subsequently, I purchased as a registered/logged in customer, and did not have this problem. Good luck!" I put in my work email address and immediately received a reply.
Now, I need to work on the 2nd trip.

Larry, Thank you for your help and links. I looked at the Ron in Rome link and called the trenitalia phone number. They found my retrieval code and sent me an email. I need to make one more reservation, but I will login before I do so. thanks again.

It seems to me you have three options: 1) Call Trenitalia and see if they can find the reservation and/or what they recommend. 2) Email customer service: [email protected]
I don't think the customer service people work on the weekend, so don't expect a return email until the middle of next week. 3) Call your credit card company, cancel the transaction and rebook. Good luck!
