Did AMS-Schiphol's mess make you miss a flight?

Schiphol Airport has introduced a compensation scheme for passengers who missed their flights due to long wait times at security. This scheme has been developed in association with Ombudsman MAX and the Dutch Consumers’ Association, and applies to those who traveled through the airport between April 23 and August 11, 2022.

The fact that the date range ends Aug. 11 makes me a little hopeful that things might be better in September.

In May, we were delayed at Schipol by 6 hours, which caused us to miss our Iceland Air connection. For our trouble, the EU paid each of us 600 euro, and Iceland Air comped us an overnight and 4 meals. Not so terrible. However, at AMS be prepared for a climb over mountains of luggage, general chaos and long waits in lines (4 hours through security for example, 1.5 to check a bag). It was nuts. In the meantime, if Schipol is also going to compensate us, who am I to say no?
