DB rail plans to raise fares by 3.9 percent by mid-December 2008, also will be raising the service fee for over the counter ticket sales.

I think the Dauer-Spezial tickets can be purchased 89 days out. I have reminders on my work Outlook calendar. ; )

I wonder if it will affect the saver fares? We get there mid-December, but I was planning on pre-buying my two long haul trip tickets.

I assume you are referring to the Dauer-Spezial fare. According to the Bahn website, the current Dauer-Spezial offer runs through Dec. 31, 2008. However, right now the online website won't allow you to puchase tickets for after Dec. 13. You might have to call them (49 1805 996633).

Cate, note, if you input a date later than 89 days out, you get a message on the "connection" page that says, "Advanced booking not available".
However, it you try to get even the schedule for Dec 14, you get another message, "Your input is not inside the timetable period between 09.12.07 and 13.12.08" and the purchase link under "Savings fares" is grayed out.
I suspect that even less than 89 days before Dec 14, you will get the same message if you ask for that date, or later. That usually continues until Dec 14, or just before, when the new schedule is finally loaded. You may have to call German Rail.
