Delta Comfort on International Flight - ATL to MXP

I am flying to Milan in June and have never flown anything other than Coach to Europe. Delta is quoting me $119 each way for Comfort. Is it worth that for the supposed additional legroom and other amenities? I don't sleep very well on a plane and doubt I will, even if in a "Comfort" seat, but wondered if it was really that much better than Coach, especially for an overnight flight. My wife and I are already in 2 seats together by the window/aisle with no one else in our row.

Any suggestions/advice/experiences you can share would be helpful.

Thanks

My husband and I have flown to Europe every year since 2009. Last year was the first time we paid for Comfort+ and we thought it was well worth the extra leg room. We didn't do it for the return trip since we don't attempt to sleep when returning. But when we go to Europe, we like to hit the ground running and we thought that extra comfort was worth the price. We would do it again.

We used it for our flight from Seattle to Beijing and thought it was well worth it. We booked row 10 - front of the coach cabin and we had a lot of legroom and really appreciated it. On the way home from Shanghai, our flight was cancelled and we were rebooked on another flight and ended up with coach seats and it was quite a difference.

We have opted for comfort plus on our last few flights overseas and believe it is well worth the cost. We have flown mainly with Delta where the up charge applied to all comfort plus seats, as opposed to United which, if I recall, offered a different price for each seat, depending on its location (that was some time ago). Also, if I understand correctly, on Delta the comfort plus is not refundable....you may change your reservation, pay a penalty, but the dollars paid for comfort plus are tossed and lost. I THINK I have that right, but worth checking out. Safe travels. FWIW we are paying $119 pp for Atlanta to Amsterdam; the charge from Boston to Amsterdam was $89.

How about splitting the difference if you can, and take it on the way over, but not on the return.

Only you can answer whether going Comfort is worth the extra money for you. For me, it is worth it. To each his/her own.

Thanks all for the feedback. I went ahead and did the Delta Comfort for the flight to Milan and will stay with Coach on the way back. Overnight is better for the little extra comfort (I hope). :)

My husband is 6'3" so the extra cost is worth it for him. If I were traveling alone it would not be worth it because I'm 5'1" so I have enough room in regular coach.

I get Delta Comfort every chance I get. It really makes a difference on some aircraft, less so on some older ones. The "amenities" that little bag with single-serving toothpaste, toothbrush, earplugs and eye shades? or does everyone get those on overnight flights?

It's worth it. We just flew Delta Comfort from Seattle to Amsterdam and have booked it going home, my husband is tall so the extra leg room is great. It's also nice to have your own dedicated bin above and not have to deal with random people shoving their bags above your head that aren't even seated near you. The improved food and (free alcoholic) beverages are also a plus.

Last year I flew Seattle to London on British Air economy and the leg room was horrible. I flew back from Edinburgh to New York on Delta economy plus and it was the best economy seat I've ever had, it helped that we were able to select the bulkhead row on a 767 that had just two seats in the row. I like that Delta allows travelers to select their seat assignments for free versus British Air that charges for a seat assignment (it's only free 24 hours in advance). The last leg of the flight from New York to Seattle was Delta regular economy which was still better than British Air. I recommend Delta economy plus if you can get the bulkhead row - nobody can recline their seat into yours.
