Of course, the handwriting is on the wall. When you want cheap you will get cheap.
I just purchased my airfare on Delta for next April......I suppose none of that will interfere with my flight plans? I did upgrade to the Economy Comfort seats for the international leg of our flight coming and going......and all of our seats are chosen based on reviews and information from seat guru.....of course, if they change planes on us between now and then it'll be all up in the air (pun intended).
I fly for work throughout the US at very frequent intervals and have, until now, always tried to fly Delta or Delta-affiliTed airlines in order to maintain my frequent flier status. I am NOT happy with the new flight tier arrangement and will show my disapproval by shifting my preferential airline travel to competitor airlines when convenient.
How soon can we anticipate 5 levels of service at the airport, too?
TSA precheck, TSA precheck sign but no precheck line open, regular line, regular line with baby strollers merging in front of you, a holiday. : )
No point in changing airline loyalty If Delta pulls it off, the others will follow. Called competition.
I agree with you, Frank. It will be a domino effect except in the bare-ones airlines.
Just wondering . . . how much of their business is domestic and how much international? That would make a big impact on those long-haul flights but maybe not so much for short flights.
Looking at those revenues makes me think they are just getting too greedy, but that's the corporate world, sigh.
On shorter trips, 3 hours or less, it's all about safety for me. Delta ('always changing') now is upcharging for the safer seats in its lower 4 tiers. When are we getting a better train system in the States?
They may be able to pull it off, but if enough of us who travel opt out of Delta, they would change it back. I sure won't even check Delta schedules for any upcoming travel. Has anyone got anymore info on Southwest possibly doing service to Europe? I heard earlier this year that was in the plans but have heard nothing else since. If they just did a few major cities, that would be wonderful and prices would come down for sure.
No you won't opt out. There was a report a while back that the single, biggest concerning about airline tickets was the price. It was huge, like 80 or 90 %. Only thing considered. Things like safety, on-time schedule, type of airplanes, etc. was way down the list. What is one of the most frequent question on this site??? How do I get the cheapest ticket ! Not who is the safest, who has the best seats, service -- just how do I get the cheapest ticket? So Delta (and the others) is trying to give you the cheapest tickets or at least the perception of the cheapest ticket. Maybe a couple of us on this site are not driven by the cheapest ticket but the majority are. It is the American way.
