To the poster who tried to talk to Delta via chat. Please please please please do not use chat
Delta‘s chat agents are incompetent and overworked. It’s a bad combination. They’re working five or six chats at a time and they’re poorly trained. If they give me the time of day I would go check it with a reliable source. I follow a lot of Delta social media and flyer talk and chat consistently gives bad information or screws up things worse than they were already screwed up.
I used chat twice. The first time they lied to me. I knew they lied to me because I knew what needed to be done because I’ve traveled enough to understand how Delta systems work so I just gave up and called. The agent on the phone looked at my reservation and said immediately oh yes, you’ve got to go to re-ticketing. The second time they just randomly announced they just canceled my ticket and I now have a credit. I pointed out nothing in this chat told you to cancel the ticket. The chat responded “i got confused” and ended the chat. Luckily, I had screen prints of all this because I spent four hours on the phone with Delta rebooking the ticket at the right price because Delta wanted to charge me several thousand dollars to book a ticket that was leaving the next day versus the several hundred dollars I had paid originally. If I hadn’t had the screen prints and been willing to to sit on hold for hours until I got a supervisor I would’ve had to pay the several thousand dollars.
