Delta Advisories - What do they mean?!

We decided to go with the DL/KLM with the return on ITA. However, when I go to book it with Delta, I am getting the following advisories: "DL6656 is subject to government approval." (this is the flight from Tirana to Rome) and "Upgrade status will be shown after you enter all passenger's information if you qualify."

I have never seen either of these warnings before. Any idea what they mean or if there is a possibility that this portion of the flight could be canceled or not "approved" for me to fly? Should I be worried and forget it and just go with the Lufthansa flights?

Thanks again!

What the first one means is that while ITA flies the route, it is waiting for government approval to codeshare it with Delta. This is just a formality. If it doesn't get the codeshare, it will still be sold as an ITA flight. (But you will more than likely not be able to get mileage on Delta.)

It could also mean it's waiting for approval to add an additional flight. But I doubt that since they already fly the route.

Regarding the upgrade status, once you enter the passenger's information you will be told whether or not you could qualify for an upgrade.

What is the ITA flight number and when is it for?

Hi Frank, It is ITA 507. I ended up calling Delta and they did not know what it meant either at first. She checked with others and after about 15, 20 minutes they came to that same conclusion. I also went on the ITA website and it is showing that flight without an advisory. I think it should be safe to book. I'm more concerned for my daughter than myself. I'm retired now, but she has to get back on time for work.

All my info disappeared while I was waiting, so I'm going to put the decision in my daughters lap!

EDIT to Add: It does not however, look like a new route. I went to FlighAware it is already an existing route for ITA, so maybe it's the code share that is waiting for approval? If that's the case, where there is a pending investment by Lufthansa, could this be a problem?

maybe it's the code share that is waiting for approval?

That's precisely what I understood Frank to say.

Sorry for the delayed reply. We are traveling 6/1-6/14. This is the 6/14 flight. I talked to my daughter and we ended up going with these flights. That is the only segment I couldn't select our seats though. Hopefully it all works out.

Thanks again Frank II.

Just be aware, for a flight four months from now, flight times might change. So keep an eye on it.

If it does change, you have the right to change your flights without charge. You don't have to accept what the airline changes it to.
