Delivery for Bahn ticket

Hi all,

I am about to buy a Economy Double cabin on CNL from Rome to Munich through www.Bahn.com.de, as their prices are a lot better than railEurope. However when I get to "type of delivery", the only option is "Tickets per Mail" and I have a few concerns:

  1. Me and my husband live in Australia, will Bahn send the tickets to our Australian address?

  2. If they do, when would they send it? I think I have read in another post that Bahn sends the tickets only 2 weeks before departure, and unfortunately, we will be traveling somewhere else at that time and wouldn't be able to receive the tickets. If this is true, is it possible to collect the tickets from the train station? As we would definitely like to buy the tickets before we head off as we are traveling on public holidays.

I live in the US, not Australia, but I booked tickets online with DB this summer. They mailed them out right away and I got them within a week of purchase (which was 2 months or so before my trip.

Thanks Mike! As the save fares from Bahn is definitely a lot cheaper than railEurope, glad to know that they send tickets to Oversea Address. As some only send to European addresses.

Have you tried the "online tickets" option? As some of the tickets I would like to get offer this option, do I just need to print the ticket and that is it? Or I would need to validate once I arrive at the Station?

With the self print option, they send you a pdf file to print out. You don't need to show it at the station, just to the conductor on the train. He will also need to see the credit card to which the ticket was charged, for ID.

I addition to the pdf file which is emailed to you, the ticket is also available for retrieval from the Bahn website if you have a user name and password.

I also ordered a ticket online this past spring, for a trip from Prague to Berlin it was much cheaper than rail europe and I got my ticket within a week of ordering it!
