December fares on Trenatalia - REALITY CHECK NEEDED!

Trying to book train on Dec 24 from Verona to Venice and getting SOLD OUT for all trains before noon. Really want to book the 9:59 or 10:59. Last week I was getting fares weren't yet available. Reality check - they can't be all sold out, right? It's only an hour train and I am assuming i could just buy tickets there and NOT have reservations but since it is Christmas Eve I want tickets in hand. Now having a bit of a panic attack. Anyone?

When I looked at the schedule, I got "Seats availability for the ed fare/service" for the base fare for those two trains, but not for the economy fare. I didn't try to go further in the ordering process since it wanted my name and email to proceed. I'm a little surprised you can even see trains on Trenitalia for Dec 24 since it is past the Dec 8 limit for schedule changes and Trenitalia is normally VERY late updating the schedules on their website.

I did see fares and got a little further but then got "fares not available for chosen date" I assume it is just a glitch as I wasn't expecting to be able to but tix so early but now i am in frustration mode! Yesterday I bought my tix from Munich to Verona and now I just want to be sure I can get to Venice by, at the latest, 1:00 on Christmas Eve.

Well - I guess the schedule is up for some days - I just bought tix for Dec 26 from Venice to Bologna (39 euros for 3 tix). Trenitalia worked fine - tickets emailed and printed.

found this on Fodors.com - posted on Oct 11, 2012: Trenitalia announces today that it has begun the process of uploading new train schedules for trains departing on and after December 9, 2012. Schedules for 112 Frecciarossa, Frecciargento and Frecciabianca trains have already been uploaded, equivalent to 29% of the total offerings. The remainder will be uploaded in stages over the next few weeks. Once uploaded to the Trenitalia website, seats for the RESERVABLE trains are usually bookable up to 120 days in advance. Electronic, web-based bookings are becoming more popular for the reservable trains, especially for people desirous of finding deeply discounted "SUPER ECONOMY" fares (which are nonrefundable and nable). Seats on the "regionale" trains cannot be reserved (and most people purchase traditional paper tickets for these trains at train stations in Italy). There are no discounted fares for the "regionale" trains, apart from the Child's discount.
