Deutsches Bahn Reservation??

Is it too early to book DB train München HBF to Berlin HBF for June 3rd? I’m confused by their app vs website.
On the DB app I see first class Sparpreis available for €34 and can choose my seat from about half the seats in coach 29. However, on the DB website Sparpreis says “error” and won’t take me to booking.
Last year, for Eurostar, SNCF and Trenitalia I made reservations about 2 to 3 months prior to travel. So I’m wondering if I’m too far out for DB or is it really filling up that fast (hard to believe).
As always thanks for your help.

At what point do you get the error message?

I just tried the bahn.de website and for June 3 was offered the Super Sparpreis for €17,90. I chose to make a seat reservation so that added €4, 50. I got all the way to the payment page without any trouble. But of course I did not enter my credit card to see if it would proceed.

I am using the website in German and proceeding as a “guest” ( not logged in to my account) but I don’t see how either of those would matter.

Edit: Now I see you want First Class so I re-did it and got the Super Sparpreis for €26,90, with no extra charge for a seat reservation.

Thanks Lola. I tried again after logging in first (see my results below) . Five months out seems too early to reserve nonrefundable train tickets. I'm getting anxious for my trip. Don't want to wait too long if the prices go up closer to travel date or seats aren't available. Maybe I'm being too impatient.

For the 7:55 am train, I'm getting a message saying an error has occured when I choose Sparpries, but not Super Sparpries and it won't go any further. Well, I just tried it again. I can get in but can't reserve a specific seat like I can on the app. So I will purchase using the app. Thanks again!

I'm getting anxious for my trip.

Don't be, you are trying to buy tickets very early, and even if you wait a month or two you'll still be booking early.

I agree with Badger - I bought my tickets a couple of months out but was tracking them earlier and they did not go up in price. So long as you aren't booking them a few weeks out, you will be fine.
