Starting July 1st all DB German Rail regional and local trains (red livery) are 100% non-smoking. From Sep. 1st ALL DB services will implement a 0% smoking tolerance, i.e. no more smoking carriages. You can then enjoy 3rd generation ICE high speed train rides from the "lounge" right behind the driver looking thru the front wind screen without the annoying smoke.

This is amazing. DB has held out from the non-smoking in place on most other Western European railways for a long term and I'm sure many people will welcome this news.
