We are staying in Carcasonne for a couple of nights and would love to take a tour to Lourdes for the day. Do you know of any tour operators that do this, without spending the night in Lourdes?

We've never had that question before, not for a day trip to Lourdes from Carcassonne. It's not covered in Rick's books. Maybe the reason no one here has done it is that it's an awkward trip, from Carcassonne, because by highway or rail you have to go through Toulouse. It's 330 miles round trip by road and a minimum of 3 hrs + one way by train. You could google around and see if you can find something--I've sometimes been surprised at the kind of day trips some tour operators offer.Another possibility is for you to look for a private driver that you could hire in Carcassonne, this might or might not include a tour of Lourdes or it might only include the transportation, waiting for you to tour Lourdes, and then driving you back. Sounds expensive. Another possibility is for you to get to Lourdes on your own and then hook up with a tour once you're in Lourdes. But that would require transportation hassles you may want to avoid.
