Day trip from Paris to Bayeux

I am looking for a guided tour to see the tapestry - does anyone know of one please?

sue,

I'm not sure it would be worthwhile to have a Guide to view the Bayeux Tapestry. You can rent an Audioguide when you buy your admission ticket, and move along the Tapestry at whatever speed you're comfortable with.

There is also a display area one floor above the Tapestry, and as I recall a small theatre as well (movie may be in French though).

If you definitely want a Guide, you might check the France Guidebook, as there may be some listed in that area.

Happy travels!

I agree with Ken, you don't need a guide, the audioguide is excellent, complete with period music. Sometimes paying for a guide is a good value, but not in this case.

We just saw it this summer. Amazing, and no need for a guide, in my opinion. You get an audioguide, and you can take all the time you need.

Thanks to you all for your replies - I guess my wording was a little confusing - what I really wanted to know was about a guided tour which included or was just to Bayeux or is it easy to get to from Paris? Would a day trip be viable?
Thanks again
Sue

Yes, a day trip is viable. You would also have time to visit the War Memorial Museum in Caen. It's easy to get from Paris to Bayeux by train. At some times of the day you'll have to make one connection in Caen. At other times of the day you can go directly to Bayeux (with a stop in Caen). See the timetables at www.bahn.de. Enter a date prior to 12 June to get current timetables. After you get summary timetables for Paris-Bayeux, click on "Details for all" to see the connecting points, if any.
