Day Trip from Bellagio (on Lake Como) to Stresa (on Lake Maggiore)

I am having trouble trying to figure out how to accomplish this day trip without having to take a 3 hour train ride from Varenna back to Milan and then out to Stresa. Is there a bus or bus/train combination through Como that would be less time consuming?......Thanks
