On my trip from the US to Paris (CDG), I have one stop over in Copenhagen, Denmark. I just realized that there is only a 55 min difference between my arrival time in Copenhagen and my departure time for the second leg to Paris (both on Scandinavian Airlines, and all under one itinerary confirmation number). How much of a problem will this be if I'm not checking bags? Do you have to clear customs only when you plan on entering into the city itself, so would I have to go through customs in Copenhagen before catching the flight to Paris? If yes, I think I'll miss that second leg...
Amy, there should be no customs. You will arrive in the international area and as long as you don't leave that area, you should be fine. If for any reason (I don't think it will happen) you do have to go through customs, Scan Air will make it work for you since you are booked through on their planes. Immediately talk to an employee if you see that you are expected to go through customs or come in late (that is more likely to happen) They may change your reservations or hold the plane. I'm not as familiar with this airline as some others, but I beleive it will be okay.
Also, address the tight schedule with the flight attendant at least an hour before your flight lands. They can hold planes if your flight is not too late. Especialy since your connecting flight is with the same airline.
Agree with above. Always best to let a flight attendant know you have the connection and they can ensure you know what to do on arrival. I don't know about this airline but others will not let you or your travel agent book a connecting flight unless there is a certain amount of time allowed for you to get from where you land to your next departure gate. In their systems they have recommended transit times. I wouldn't think you will have to clear customs - you will just be a transit passenger. When you check in at your US port make sure they check your luggage all the way to Paris.
Greetings
You will not have to go through customs in Denmark - your luggage is checked straight through so you'll just wait for your next flight. There is a small chance you might have to go through immigrations, depending on where/what terminal your second flight is located. But it's a small airport, so never a very long walk.

I would not count on flight attendants or airlines to be helpful - there's often little they can do these days. I had a situation where a BA flight was late and the flight attendants were totally clueless. They could only tell me to go to the connections desk, which I couldn't reach til I had taken a bus to the new terminal and gone through immigrations. Had my flight been on time it would have left before I'd ever gotten to the desk. Nor did there seem to be any ground-staff who cared. (My flights had been booked with plenty of time between flights, but the two-part international flight was over an hour late, plus a long delay to get a gate at Heathrow).
