Current airline security rules - anyone anyone at all know what they are?

I always take a large bottle of water onto the plane which I have dutifully purchased after security (OK, I fill a empty bottle up at a fast food joint past security). Is this now a no no along with exploding shoes, underwear and what ever? I know this is serious, that idiot could have killed anyone of us or a loved one but how can we plan our trip without rational, consistent guidance in this arena?

You can keep track of the official TSA regulations at www.tsa.gov. Keep in mind, though, that every airport can have their own regulations and practices. In addition, airlines themselves can implement their own restrictions for carryons, etc. The best thing to do before a trip is to call your airline to find out what their rules are at the time you are traveling. "Rational" and "consistent" are not words in the TSA vocabulary.

These are the latest rules for domestic flights

This is all the TSA website says about the new security measures applicable to international flights to the US, procedures have changed and you should get to the airport earlier than before Dec. 25.

"Consistency is the hobgobblin of little minds" -

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Apparently, that is TSA's unofficial motto.

Reading Kent's link, it looks like nothing has changed but might at any time. It's probably best to check TSA's website for the latest rules prior to packing for any trip.

TSA makes up the rules as they go along. If they don't feel like allowing water on the plane that day, they don't. Nothing you can do about it.

If you complain in writing, you get a nice form letter telling you how they are protecting you from terrorists.
