Will be taking a hop on a Croatian Air flight and from their website the carry on bag is restricted to 8 kg (about 17.5 lbs) Does anyone know if they are real sticklers on the weight? That doesn't seem like much. I plan on keeping my bag to under 20, but we will be on this flight on the way home and I'm sure I'll be making some purchases. I see we also get 1 additional personal bag (with size restrictions). we have a fairly tight connection with Turkish air. would like to check the bag but my agent thinks best to carry on.
We loved Croatia Air, but we checked our bag. I also carried an RS backpack with lots of stuff and they didn't even look at that - but that would be a personal item, I guess.
It would be my luck that I would be over by an ounce....
I always just follow the weight and size guidelines and you should be fine if you pack light - 17.5 pounds fits quite a lot. One experience can't guarantee that they'll be lax for your flight as well but FWIW, I flew from Dubrovnik to Zagreb and they were not checking bag weights.
But Turkish? They were so so so strict on bags. They weighed, they measured and, once they were satisfied that my bag was ok, they put a little cabin baggage sticker on it and let me proceed.
I'd just plan to check the bag on the way home and shop-shop-shop. Be sure anything breakable, valuable, or hard to replace goes in a carry-on bag. Who cares if your dirty laundry is a fee days late arriving home?
I think our agent wondered if we had to collect our bags in Zagred on Croatia air and then recheck in to Turkish air, of which we may not have enough time... Anyone ever made that connection? I'm surprised we may not just check bags thru to Chicago...
So I asked Croatia Air about checking my bags thru with them to my final destination ( I have 2 separate tickets so I was told I may have to collect my bags and then recheck them with Turkish air) I went to Croatia Air website and asked my question, they didn't give me a definitive answer, I need to see at check in, but they responded in less than 24 hrs on a weekend. So I am giving them points for promptness.
