We have reserved a sleeping compartment for two on the Night train from Venice to Munich. Does anyone know if you can plug in a cpap machine? (we have a converter plug)
thanks
Just to be clear - you'll need an "adapter" plug to be able to physically insert your plug into their receptacle. You probably don't need a voltage "converter" because most newer electronics are dual voltage...it will convert the voltage internally.
It won't matter, because you won't be able to sleep anyway.
Just kidding.
Or am I ...
;-)
I too am on CPAP, however I can do without my machine for one night. Many people rip their headsets off in their sleep anyway but 1/2 night is better than nothing.
Old, traditional sleeping cars only had a low-voltage receptacle for shavers. But Seat 61 says that these more recently-built sleeping cars do have additional power sockets.
In the coaches on the Nightjet you can definitely plug in your machine. I used to work on these trains and know their layout intimately.
There is a European standard 220V/50Hz socket conveniently located on the side of the berth where your pillow is, plus another one in over the washbasin.
What you must realise is that during the night the current will be switched off at least twice for between 10 and 30 minutes - at Villach at c. 1:30AM, then at Salzburg at c. 4:30AM. Will that be a problem?
