I am joining the Cosmos that covers Paris (less than 2 days) and ends in Rome. Booked a flight direct to Paris to spend another 3 nights before flying home. I feel like travelling from Paris to other beautiful city in France for that 3 nights. love to do something different, like staying at the countryside or etc. and do they hv bike tour at the countryside? i just dont want to spend anymore time at the paris city as my earlier tour already covers that. anyone pls advise?..budget b&b countryside/homestay if anyone knows any? tks

My answer assumes you fly out of Paris, and therefore need to be near enough to Paris to conveniently return to Paris to fly out. Based on that assumption, I would suggest the Champagne countryside around Reims, perhaps near the town of Epernay south of Reims. However, if you want to sleep in the French countryside, you will probably have to rent a car so that you can get to the countryside.

The town of Chartres is a 1 hr. train ride from Paris. Check out the website www.chartres.fr and click on "Tourisme" in the upper right corner for info. The B&B's look reasonable and there is quite a selection. I'm not sure if it's enough countryside for you. However, this town looks like fun to stay in. We took a day trip there to see the cathedral which is breathtaking. Have fun!
