My husband and I have just received our couchette reservations/tickets for an overnight trip in T6 accommodation within France. His states coach 14, couchette 34, 01middle. Mine states coach 14, couchette 33, 01middle. This sounds to me like we are in different couchettes? I had thought they were mixed gender. Should I be worried if I am in one on my own - do I need to hope for nuns??? - should we try to change the reservations? Thanks for any advice
Chris,
In the same circumstances, I'd try and change reservations so that you're both in the same compartment. That way if one of you has to leave the compartment for a few minutes, the other can watch the luggage. There have been some reports of items "missing" from luggage, and of course the others in the compartment always disavow any knowledge of this.
Hopefully one of our Rail experts here will have some tips for you.
It's very easy to make Couchette reservations in France. If you're going to be in Paris for a few days prior to the trip on the night train, you might stop by any SNCF Boutique and they'll sort this for you.
No problem...you're in the same compartment (compartment 3 on train car #14)....the second digit of the couchette number (the 3 and the 4) indicates you're both in middle bunks....so you're right across from each other. 31 and 32 would indicate the lower bunks in your compartment (#3), and 35 and 36 would indicate the upper bunks in that T6
In second class you share with five others - in first class it is only three. The only advantage in my book is that you save on a night in a hotel. Don't count on a good night's sleep!

Thanks Norm for your helpful & informative reply to my question. (I was hoping perhaps that was the case).
Roger, thanks, I realise what T6 is and am quite well informed from these forums about how well we may not sleep!
