Cost of taxi from Barcelona airport to cruise port

can anyone tell me what they paid for taxi fare from barcelona airport to cruise ports? was that 2014 rates or earlier?

Also anything I should be aware of in terms of taxi rates in barcelona? I understand there are supplements although not quite sure I understand them.

Final question ... does the airport shuttle go directly to cruise ports? If not, what's the transfer and is there any walking involved (as I will be dealing with luggage and injured shoulder)?

Thanks,
Denise

You really should be asking those question (not taxi cost) of your cruise line. There is a cruise port at the bottom of Las Ramblas but in four trips to Barcelona we have only docked there once. If your cruise originate there then it is most likely you would be using that port but double check to make sure. Supplements are extra charges, generally for luggage - say - 2 Euro per bag as an example, night time surcharges, etc. Our experience in other beginning ports is that the taxi "might" have a flat rate to the cruise port - generally not a deal but much better than the ship's transport. Establish all your prices BEFORE getting into the cab.

On this site you will get the general recommendation of packing light which you should consider. Our total luggage for cruises is three carry-on size bags (two rolling, one backpack style) so I know it can be done. Our first cruise was well above that and handling the luggage was a disaster. Never again.

If you sign up for your ship on Cruisecritic.com you will get better responses related to your specific cruise. If you don't have too much luggage you might be able to share a taxi with another couple.

Rick's Barcelona chapter estimates a taxi fare from cruise port to airport at €35-40. There's also a €1/fee per bag and an airport pick-up fee of €4.20 that may not have been in the first estimate. I would round up to €50.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks so so much for your wisdom, resources and experience with taxis from barcelona airport to cruise port. I find this process daunting as I will be traveling by myself, don't speak Spanish and have never been on a cruise before.

I have one other question. I have had a torn rotator cuff and cannot pull or pick up my own luggage. Do the cruise lines offer assistance for luggage pickup/carrying onboard for those with restrictions?

BTW, I am going on Royal Caribbean.

Thanks again for your help,
Denise

Once your checkin for the cruise, you are separated from your luggage except for any carryon or personal items. Prior to the cruise you will receive luggage tags with your stateroom number. Your luggage will be x-ray and deliver to your room sometime after arrival. Same for departure when is over. However, you are responsible for your luggage up to that point.
Given what you just posted on your limitations I would book the ship's transportation from the airport to the ship. It is more expensive but the service level is high. They will meet you at the airport, collect your luggage, load it in the bus, off load it at the ship check-in, and finally in your room.

If you cannot pull or pick up your luggage, how are you getting to the airport and in between when you have to handle your own luggage? Porters are not common. I think this says that you need to be very carefully of your total luggage load. Anything more than one rolling carry on size bad is too much.

Thanks, Frank, for your suggestions. I will definitely check into any transportation options with cruise line.

Hello,

First, it's helpful to know that there is a minimum charge on taxis from the airport of EUR 20. The supplement on the taxis fare from the airport is EUR 3.10. Bags or other items that are placed in the boot do not carry an additional charge. This is great web site where you can find all other info about quality of taxi services in Barcelona (as well in all other cities on the world) and aslo you can find contact numbers of recommended taxi companies http://www.myworldtaxi.com/cityPage.php?cityid=91

Best,
