Is one and one half hours enough time to change planes at Heathrow? Flying American Airlines into London from USA then American Airlines operated by British Airways to Barcelona. May check bags - or not. Will have nothing to declare.
Michele - on the Heathrow website, you want to click on "flight connections," not "connecting flights." The "flight connections" information is valid year-round and is not date-dependent.
Heathrow has improved markedly since they opened the new terminal, but it's still probably the slowest major airport in Europe to transfer through. If your plane lands on time, it parks at a gate (planes sometimes park on the tarmac and you have to take a short bus ride to the terminal) and the security line isn't too long (you don't have to go through customs or immigration), 90 minutes should be OK. But personally, I'm not comfortable flying through Heathrow with anything less than a 3 hour hour layover.
The Heathrow Airport website shows the estimated connection times according to which terminals you'll be using for arrival and departure. Go to www.heathrowairport.com and click on "Airport Information" and then on "Flight Connections."
Thanks for your help. I went to the Heathrow website but they don't have information available for September yet. I'll check with my potential carrier and see what my other optiions are.
Thanks, Tom. I spoke with an American Airlines agent - (I was only on hold afew minutes!) and changed to a flight that gives us more time and less stress!
