Would an hour and a half be enough connection time for me and two teenagers in the Dublin Airport? We would be going from Aer Lingus to RyanAir, and I've never been through Dublin before. We have to check luggage. I'm a good packer, but there is no way I can get it under the 6 kilo allowed to carry on in coach.
I don't think it's going to be enough time. You will have to wait on line to get through immigration, collect your checked baggage (budget airlines don't handle checked bags from other airlines), head to the RyanAir check-in desks, go back through immigration again, go through a security screening, and make your way to the RyanAir gates (which are at the far end of the terminal). Also keep in mind that you need to check-in at least 40 minutes before departure. For me, that's too close for comfort.
It seems too close for me, too. There are just too many things that can happen to hold you up. Aer Lingus has been on time or early every time I have flown with them, but flights can get delayed, and there's no telling how long it will take to get your bag back.
I agree with Michael and Nancy. With budget airlines like Ryanair, if you haven't COMPLETED the check-in process and been issued a boarding pass by the deadline (40 minutes for Ryanair), you can be denied boarding even if you're standing in line at the ticket counter. Your ticket will be worthless and you'll have to buy a new one on a later flight at last-minute prices.
Thanks -- The airline said I had time, but it seemed too tight to me as well.
