Connection process on flight from Athens to Dallas connecting in London Heathrow

I am flying from Athens to London Heathrow and on to Dallas on 11/2. The flight was purchased through American Airlines. The Athens to Heathrow flight is a codeshare with British Airways arrives at 10:15 a.m at terminal 5 and Heathrow to Dallas on American departs at 11:55 a.m. from terminal 3. I know that making the connection will be tight, so I want to be as prepared as I can to save time. I have three questions:

  1. Do I have to go back through the security line when changing terminals?
  2. If yes, should I get 'Fast Track' at Heathrow?
  3. Do you have any other suggestions?

The Heathrow website has a very good section on connecting flights: https://www.heathrow.com/connecting-flights

And yes, you will need to go through security, but not Immigration, as long as your flights are on a single ticket. Basically you follow the Connection signs once you deplane from your first flight.

Anyone connecting in the UK will have to go through security unless they were traveling from another UK airport.

Just follow the purple Flight Connection signs. You will get a bus from T5 to T3, go through a separate security line for connecting passengers at T3, and then go to your gate.

There will be clearly marked flight connections signs after you deplane. Follow them. Eventually these lead to an area where signs for connections terminal 3 will show up and you wait for the shuttle between terminals. All of this takes place airside. At Terminal 3, you will go through security and then simply look for your gate .
