In October my wife an I will be traveling from JFK to Helsinki, connecting to a flight to Berlin. We have a 50 minute connection time in Helsinki. 1. Will we clear customs in Helsinki or Berlin?
2. If we need to clear customs in Helsinki can we make this connection? Thanks.

You'll go thru passport control in Helsinki. Helsinki is a small airport - there's only one building. If you're on a single ticket, your bags should already be checked through to Berlin and you should already have your boarding pass for the second flight. Passengers inbound from the U.S. don't even have to go through another security check when transferring. I don't think you'll have any problem making the connection, unless your inbound flight is delayed.
