I have a 2 hour layover in Paris on my way back home. I'm scheduled to land at 8:50 am and take off again for the US at 10:55 am. Will I have any issues making my flight back to the states? I fly Air France into Paris and Delta out to the US. Thanks!
If you inbound is on-tine you should be OK but move as quickly as you can. 90 minutes has been tight but your should have a half hour to spare. Don't plan on last minute shopping at CDG.
CDG is big but I been there many times and getting from gate to gate is usually pretty smooth. My issues with CDG is getting through the check in & security and then getting to the gate which is time consuming. You should be fine if you go straight to the next gate.
Will I need to go through any more security or will I be able go directly to the gate for my US bound flight?
Jeremy, I think you'll have to go through a security check again before your US-bound flight. The whole shoes-and-belt removal security theater routine we get for livin' in the USA. That's been my experience at CDG and at Frankfurt after flights in from other European cities.
CDG transfers can be a nightmare but if you pay attention to the signs and follow the herd you'll probably be OK. I'd be more comfortable with an extra hour though.
I've been through CDG twice in the past eight months. Two hours should be okay, but you won' t want to dawdle! I think it depends which terminal you arrive in and which one you are departing. Both my experiences involved Air France/Delta. On the first, I had to walk quite a distance and go through passport control. I don't remember going through security. I had enough time for a quick take-out sandwich. On my second trip, we taxied for a LONG time and then had to walk REALLY far, taking a shuttle to another terminal. I also had to go through a rather disorganized security checkpoint. I made my flight, but barely. In both cases, I had a two-hour layover. I would prefer a little more time - or to avoid CDG altogether!
I've never taken my shoes off at CdG or any other European airport.
Last October, I had an hour and 40 minutes layover at CDG, which I was nervous about. Our first flight was on time, and I had enough extra time to buy a pain au chocolat and sit around reading for a quite while. Of course I was lucky the two terminals were just across from each other and I could walk from one to the other. I had scoped out the locations of both terminals when we were there at the start of our trip, so I knew exactly where to go. Incidentally, we were flying Air France and Delta also. Good luck; you'll probably be fine.
