Hi all,
I am considering a Switzerland tour in July and am looking at flights. I used to live in Los Angeles so I had more non-stop choices to Europe, but now that I fly out of Tampa, not so much. So I am new to the connection game and need advice from all of the saavy travelers on the forum. I always fly Delta. So there's that. There is a flight from Tampa connecting through JFK with a 3 hour layover. I have heard nightmare stories about JFK (I have never gone through there), but I only have carry on luggage, so I can't imagine 3 hours would not be enough time. I looked at the JFK map and I see that Delta has a jitney that goes from Terminal 2 (domestic flights) to Terminal 4 (international flights). Seems pretty straightforward to me, right?
Returning from Zurich, the flights are all two and three connections. Ick. My choices are connect in Amsterdam with a 2 hour layover and then in Atlanta with a one hour and 50 minute layover. I have carry on luggage and Global Entry so I don't know if that helps at all with the short layover in Atlanta. I know that is a crap shoot. Atlanta is a busy airport. And who knows how many international flights will be landing around the same and have to go through customs. The other choice is to connect in Amsterdam with a one hour and 50 minute layover and then connect in Detroit to Tampa with a three hour and 50 minute layover. I would the love the opinion of all of the intrepid travelers on this forum as to which return flight you would pick.
