We are flying in Sept from Nice to CDG to connect with our AA flight to Chicago. Easyjet has us checking our two bags on their flight. How difficult will it be to make our connection? We arrive into terminal 2B at 10:40am. We depart from terminal 2a at 12:15pm. Thanks, Jim C.

It's going to be very tight. Discount airlines don't do baggage transfers to other airlines. So you will have to collect you checked baggage at the carousels, exit the terminal, reenter the terminal, wait in line at the AA check-in desks, go through immigration, and go through security. Should the Easyjet flight be delayed, and you miss your flight to Chicago your tickets will be worthless, and you'll have to pay big bucks to get home. Get an earlier flight, or fly into CDG the evening before and spend the night at an airport hotel.

You need to be at CDG a full three hours before a flight across the Atlantic. You could fly Nice-Orly on easyJet, departing at 06:30 and arriving at 08:00. Take the Orlyval driverless shuttle train from Orly to the Antony RER station and the RER B from there to CDG. The ride will take a little over one hour which means you probably would get to CDG around 09:30 at the earliest. However, it will be much safer to spend your last night in Paris or in a hotel near CDG. To have as much time in Nice as possible, you could fly Nice-CDG on easyJet, departing at 20:40 and arriving at 22:10.

The cheapest hotel located at the airport itself is the Ibis Paris CDG Airport Hotel which is part of the Accor chain. It's located next to Terminal 3 and a stop on the free 24/7 driverless CDGVAL shuttle train that connects all the terminals. Cheaper yet are two more hotels in the Accor chain that are very close to the airport: the Etap Hotel Roissy CDG Paris Nord 2 and the HotelF1 Roissy Aeroport CDG PN 2 Hotel. Both hotels are served by free Accor shuttle buses. The Etap has ensuite bathrooms. The HotelF1 has shared bathrooms down the hall.
