Connecting in Paris

Hello! I’m traveling from DC/Dulles to Porto Portugal with a connection in Paris/CDG. I’ll check a bag and have a backpack carryon. I’m flying Air France and have 1.5 hr connection. I’ve never been to Europe and don’t speak French. Will I have a difficult time making my connection? Does anyone know if I’ll need to change terminals? Thanks for your help!

There's no language barrier at CDG. Your flight arrives at terminal 2d and you walk to 2e to catch a flight to Porto. It takes about 15 minutes to walk but you have to go through passport control and the lines can get really long depending on how many flights arrive at the same time as yours. You will make the connection if the flight arrives on time. If it doesn't the airline will just rebook you on the next flight with available space. I use to work at an airline and we always knew we had to rebook people or get them hotel rooms before the even arrived in cases of delays that were our fault. When you check in for the flight don't forget to ask the people checking you in the same questions. Read your itinerary it should say what terminals you are arriving in and leaving out of.

I think this should say arrive 2E, depart 2F. There may be a train or a shuttle bus involved in going from one to the other. Normally there’s both a security check and immigration, done separately.

Is the trip all on one ticket? If not you are in deep doo-doo.

Checking, as Joe asked, about your ticketing. If it's all on one ticket your checked bag can go all the way to your final destination, which helps the close timeframe, but make sure when you check it in that's what the tag/bar code says!
I would also take a change of clothes in your backpack (and anything else you need for overnight), just in case.
Best of luck and have a wonderful trip!

Hi. As long as you have over an hour you should be fine. I have done it in just over an hour a couple of times. Just follow the huge yellow signs. I usually try and take a pic of the screen that has your gate number so I don’t have to remember, as it’s a long walk. You will have to go thru passport control, but they move quickly. Definitely bring a change of clothes in your backpack in case your checked luggage doesn’t move as fast as you do! Have fun!
