connecting in FCO

We are traveling in mid-Sept. 2012. From Naples to Rome at 7 am, arriving 7:55 with a connection to LAX at 9:15 am. Both flights are Alitalia. Can you see a problem with the timing? I'd think bags will go straight through to new flight, but will we be delayed at a second customs check or carry-on search? Thanks so much.

You should be OK, but it is Italy. Since it is just a matter of changing planes, and you are early in the day should not be any delays. You will be behind security so there should be no further checks.

Thanks Frank,
I was hoping for that answer. Alitalia has the only non-stop and it's a really long flight for seniors. If we miss it, we'll probably just wait for the following day and hope for seats.

Since you are on Alitalia for both flights, you should be fine. I've had airline attendants meet my plane and escort me right to the gate for a trans-Atlantic flight. It is in Alitalia's best interest for you to make the Rome to LAX leg. I try to book all legs of a trip on the same airline, then the airline has a vested interest in getting you on right flight-it will cost them money if you don't.

Ken, Again, exactly my hope and the reason to book all through same airline. By the way, I took the plunge today and purchased the ticket so now we just play by the rules and hope for the best. Thanks to all,
