connecting in FCO

We are traveling in mid-Sept. 2012. From Naples to Rome at 7 am, arriving 7:55 with a connection to LAX at 9:15 am. Both flights are Alitalia. Can you see a problem with the timing? I'd think bags will go straight through to new flight, but will we be delayed at a second customs check or carry-on search? Thanks so much.

Are the flights on the same ticket or separate tickets? If separate tickets, you may need to go down to terminal 5 to check in to your flight to the US. If its the same ticket, hopefully Alitalia has a smooth way to check you in all the way through and take you to the departure area for your second flight.

They are on the same ticket and purchased together from Alitalia's website. Actually the price was no different for the round trip LAX-FCO as the split LAX-FCO and NAP-FCO-LAX. I would have thought they would have charged extra for adding the NAP-FCO segment... but they did not. I'm thinking we'll be OK making the connection. I'm hoping they will give boarding passes at NAP all the way through... esp. since it's all Alitalia... and I was able to pick all seats all the way through.
Thanks for the input.
