On our return home we will be flying from Florence to Frankfurt then on to Toronto, both flights on Lufthansa, both Terminal 1. We'll have 90 minutes to make the connection. I've looked all over the FRA website, but I can't seem to find out which piers we'll likely be using or where exit passport control is. Will we be able to stay air side? I haven't been there in almost 20 years and only have a vague memory of miles of corridors and having to take a bus to get to the plane. Any guidance would be appreciated.
CHeck "Flight Aware" and look at the last few flights. I have found some information there in the past regarding gate numbers. Also you can actually call Lufthansa Customer service and they can help you.
I use Google and type in the flight info: LH 457 for example. It will pull up your flight, show the departure and arrival times and airports. The Flight Aware which will also come up with Google will show you the history of the flight. Good to see which gates your flight usually uses and if it is often on time, early or delayed.
Lufthansa often uses Gates Z for N. America and A-1, A-2, or B-1, B-2 for other flights. All of these are in Terminal 1, and you will stay airside going between gates.
Thanks for pointing me to Flight Aware. Looks like we will be flying out of a B gate. Haven't found an arrival gate for our first leg, but I have a sneaky feeling that since it's a small plane, we'll end up at a bus gate. As long as we can stay air side, and our flight out of Florence isnt too delayed, i think we'll be fine
The bus drops you at a spot between A and B, you should stay airside and simply have to go through the always required passport check before you go to Z deck, which is above A. Moreover, this may lead to a shorter walk than if you had gated.
Thanks Larry. I have some mobility challenges (yes, the stereotypical little old grey haired lady with a cane), so the less walking, the better.
