Condor Airlines PDX to Italy

Has anyone used these airlines recently. I am trying to buy tickets and the reviews on every airline seems horrible. I guess my biggest concern is no one will let you sit together. I realize I have to purchase seats on this airline, only the leg to Frankfurt is available on their website, the second leg is Luftansa. Even with purchasing the seats on one leg, the price is about 400 cheaper per ticket than other options I can find. How hard to get 4 seats together or two and two on the the legs from Frankfurt to Venice/Rome? Would I have to call luftansa to get that? When you buy tickets through condor website and it says Luftansa as the second leg, is that normal?
Thanks for the help

I love Condor - they're my go-to airline out of Seattle. I wouldn't worry too much about where you sit on the second leg of your journey - the flight is just barely over an hour. We did successfully get seats from Frankfurt to our final city on previous legs...I can't recall if Condor did it at the airport or if we went through Lufthansa.

Their prices are really great for a non-stop. We usually upgrade to their premium economy and are usually able to get that for $1100 round trip, as long as we're buying at least 6 months out. Note that their round trip tickets are often MORE expensive than purchasing two one way tickets, for some reason.
