Has anyone flown Condor airlines within the past year? And which class of seat did you have? Is their premium economy better than economy?
I saw a thread about Condor with responses in 2023 so I was hoping for more current information.

Here is a review of Premium and regular econ seats.

No personal experience, but the additional 5 inches between seats in Prem econ makes them better apart from the other perks one gets with the Prem econ class
I flew Condor Premium Economy in October 2023 R/T Seattle to Frankfurt. It was the new fleet of jets, so not sure the experience would be much different in 2024 or 2025. I have flown PE on 5 or 6 different airlines and the Condor experience was my least favorite. Yes, the price was great, but I found the seat uncomfortable (stashed my jacket behind my back). And in particular I missed the extra space between the seat next to me. Normally you have a wider arm rest area where your tray is stored etc. On Condor you simply had one regular arm rest to share with the other passenger. The service was good as I recall. I'm sure the PE section is better than Condor's economy section, but I will always look to another airline if I have the option.
Condor Airlines flies newer planes and we've enjoyed premium economy seats to/from Europe. It has a partnership with Alaska Airlines which is valuable to us in flyover territory, as flights to/from Europe are all on one ticket. Sometimes significant savings are available compared to other possible carriers. Caution: Condor's website is a bit of a slog. Also, some flights are not daily, so keep that in mind when booking.
I just bought tickets on a Condor flight Seattle to Frankfurt through Alaska Airlines, as that is our main carrier. You are right the Condor website is a slog! Alaska says it's a Condor flight, but on Condor it says it's an Alaska flight. No one knows, lol. They don't have an email that I can find, and I am currently texting someone on WhatApp. Recent reviews look good for business class, and the price is lowest. For economy there is a price tag to everything. If you are checking a bag or carrying on a bag, there's a charge. Want to select your seat? There's a charge. Want to pick out your food? There's a charge. There are fewer charges in Premium economy, it ends up being rather close in price.
Last summer I flew SEA-FRA in business class. I used all my Alaska miles for two RTs. Sadly, Alaska changed the mileage redemption, and this time, I'm paying cash for Premium Economy. I'm dreading it. As a 6', plus-size woman, I will take any extra space I can get over Economy, and Condor was the only airline offering a fare I was willing to pay (because I'm also cheap).
I’m curious about their boarding practices. One review said it was total chaos. Was this the case in either SEA or FRA?
In FRA, boarding is chaos, at least it was in our experiences. Bad gate area and buses. Ugh!
Changing planes there is a nightmare of buses and long long walks.
I like Condor Business Class going to Europe. Excellent service and we will use it again in September.
The boarding process was standard in my opinion--lots of people standing around trying to get on as soon as possible. We were at a normal gate in Frankfurt with no busses required.
Has anyone had trouble with Condor's carry-on luggage size? Condor's stated depth spec for a carry-on suitcase is 20cm, which is closer to 8" than 9" (23cm) like most of the other airlines. I have a hard shell suitcase that measures 9 inches and I wonder if I will be able to carry it on. Thanks.
Not sure where you're flying from but in Seattle they put carry on bags in a sizer. At the check in desk they weigh your bags. So be aware of weight limits on your hard-sided case.
Trotter, thank you for this info! Where is the luggage sizer? Is it at the gate, or before security?
I am leaving from Seattle. Typically I fly domestically and skip the ticket counter at the airport. I check in online, take only carry-on luggage, go through TSA with my carry-on luggage, and straight to the gate. Maybe internationally is different. Will I be routed to a Condor ticket counter before going through security, even if I checked in online? Is this where the luggage sizer is?
Thank you so much,
Jeannie
The sizer is at the gate. It is (or at least was) not a hard sided "cage" like some sizers. But it has an outline. So if the dimensions of the bag are outside the lines you might get dinged. I suppose a lot depends on whether you are flying business class, premium or economy. I did not see this but you may also encounter gate agents who will require you to check your bag simply by eyeballing it or picking it up.
Whether you bypass the ticket counter will of course depend on whether you are able to check in online. But whether you check in online or not, a gate agent will want to look at your passport and at that time your carry-on may get a look.
Thanks again, Trotter. Very helpful.
I could check the suitcase on my outbound flight, but not on the return trip, due to a connection. Condor said I could "probably" check it through (the flights are all Condor) but I don't know. I may be looking for a new suitcase.
Do you (or anyone) have any experience with Rick Steves' Rolling Carry-on, on Condor? The dimensions listed are 21"x13.5"x9".
Thanks.
We just flew roundtrip from Seattle to Frankfurt with Condor, as a part of our roundtrip flight from Boise to Rome. This was our first time on Condor. We flew business class and I purchased the tickets using the Condor website. Our experience was overall positive. The fares were significantly cheaper than all the other airlines for business class, so I thought we would give it a try. The outbound flight was on time. Embarkation pretty smooth. The lie-flat seats were good and the space within the cubicle overall was nice. I thought the cushions were a bit firm. Movie/entertainment good, I don't use a lot of it but I did watch one movie. Food was quite good, wine choices a bit limited, service was very good and friendly. Amenity bag had socks, eyeshade, toothbrush/toothpaste, face cream, etc. Fight was smooth and we made good time. Flight back was delayed 2 hours (schedule change) so we would miss our connection in Seattle--we were rebooked automatically but with a 5-hour layover in Seattle, so we got on the phone with Alaska Air and changed those without a problem. Pleasant flight back, only took an hour and a half nap, comfortable and I thought this was an overall good deal. We are headed back to Rome in October and I will look here first for business class seats.
I fly from Seattle to Frankfurt about twice a year, alternating between Lufthansa and Condor. My last flight last week was on Condor and since they introduced their new fleet of planes last year, with solid Rolls Royce engines, as one pilot proudly informed us, I will always choose Condor. Overall, their service is much friendlier, the pilots for some reason spunkier and faster, than any airline I have been on. Accordingly, in my experience Condor planes tend to arrive before their scheduled time. Except for once, about ten years ago when my plane was delayed for four hours, due to refueling delays in Seattle. The pilot was so angry that we made it back in under eight hours.
The premium economy class is much more comfortable, with wider seats than Lufthansa, where you hardly perceive a difference between economy and premium. This time, I came back in business class and felt very comfortable. A nice touch were the 100 % cotton Pyjamas on top of the nice amenities package, with ritual products for face and body. There was also a snack basket at my seat with chips, crackers, m&m’s, gummy bears and 100% banana mango fruit juice. As for alcohol, wine and beer are included on the prime seats, while first class also offers champagne and select long drinks. ((Although, I did not try any of them this time and cannot speak to their quality) When flying to Europe, I will do so with Condor because you cannot beat the price-service equation. In fact they are consistently cheaper than other options.
i wanted to book a business class ticket from LAX to Munich for 2, the price was decent but my concern is that it looks like there is an extra charge for seat assignments! in business class??? and is 600.00 a seat? that just does not make senseto me!
suzannepkinsey, a seat selection fee in Condor Business Class makes sense to me because of the way the seats are arranged. There are in staggered 1-2-1 rows, and there are only maybe 3 center seats that line up. These are referred to as "honeymoon seats" because you're sitting directly next to your travel companion. This was my preferred seat, and I expect it's a lot of folks' preference. I don't think I had to pay seat selection, at least not $600. If you don't select a seat, I expect you'll get an aisle seat that is not aligned with the other center seat. Also, there are two (I think) seats at the very front that are larger or more private or somehow "extra," and I imagine the seat selection price would reflect that.
I was able to select my business class seat without having to pay a charge. I did it over the phone. They also have a helpful WhatsApp channel. You might be referring to the first row of business? It's extra nice so they charge for that row.
Ugh. Condor. We have very bad memories of our one time experience with Condor flying from Logan-Milan with what was supposed to be a 2 hour layover in Frankfurt, another airport we despise. Our flight from Logan was delayed six times and ended up leaving 5 hours late. When we arrived in Frankfurt all looked well, because even our connecting flight apparently had issues. Then when we thought it was close to boarding time we headed to the gate only to be met with “flight indefinitely delayed”. In fact, at least 30 other Condor and Lufthansa f,goths had the same delays. We headed up to the customer service area, along with around 5000 others to seek compensation and find new connecting flights. It ended up being a 7 hour nightmare. When we landed in Malpensa, after 36 hours of traveling, it turned out that they lost our luggage too! We were going on to Puglia the next week. We didn’t hear from them until we were ensconced in our little rental in Ostuni and they asked if we wanted them to send our luggage. We said no because we were changing cities every 4 days. Before heading down to Puglia we had to buy new clothes, shoes, everything. Luckily, Italy has clothing shops where one can buy all of that for very little. It ended up costing us around €400. The flight back was much, much, worse. Worst of all? None of the USB ports on any of the legs of our trip worked. So when we arrived in Frankfurt we had to search for places to charge our phones. That too was a struggle. We were supposed to arrive back in Boston at 1pm leaving us enough time to exit the airport to take a bus down to Cape Cod ( we live on one of the islands). We ended up arriving around midnight and then took an Uber ($275) to get a hotel room which we’d only sleep in for 6 hours ($235). We tried for 2.5 years to get recompense for our troubles. Eventually we got about $300. NEVER AGAIN CONDOR
jonrossjan--- How long ago was your ordeal?

I have never used uber, and at those rates I never will
We just flew R/T on Condor, arriving home the 3rd. Both flights operated well within on-time parameters-we were about an hour late leaving Frankfurt for Portland, but arrived only 10 minutes late. As an aside, I do not recommend transiting through PDX as their international arrivals hall, rechecking of bags (we were transferring to SEA) and TSA reminded us of 20 years ago.
Back to Condor-flight crews very pleasant, ground staff nice but they are a bit of a lower cost airline so even though we flew Premium Economy on them, it isn’t equal to that class of service on other carriers we are familiar with. It is adequate, food is fine. Seats are a bit smaller than other lines, but they do recline and there is legroom. Pillows are quite nice. I’ve never used the blanket.
This is our second R/T with them and the first experience was good too.
Please note: feeder, defeeder and onward flights are generally operated by the operating airline in conjunction with a Condor flight in Economy Class.
This wording is on the page where one selects their flight from the offerings and above the orange box the has the wording 'continue with selected flights'
That wording and the fact there seems to be no way to select seats on the 2nd flight should be some alert that would prompt additional research/questions before completing the booking.
Hopefully the refund comes through as the CSR said it would.

Re this comment: this is not a permanent situation, the airport is under renovations that should be done in first quarter 2026. It may be old fashioned but it's still faster than some large airports I have been through. BTW the Condor flight from PDX is only three days a week in spring/summer.
