OK this is an extension of the question I asked last week. Now that we have decided to commute by RER to and from Paris from our home base in Versailles, I am wondering which of the seemingly endless choices for metro/rer tickets we should buy? We will be doing the Versailles/Paris commute probably a total of about 8 or 9 days sprinkled throughout our 2 week stay. Is the Carte Orange for zones 1-4 the best choice? Or is there something more economical or efficient? And whatever we pick, can we buy it at the train station our first day (which will be a Sunday)? Whew - lots of questions! Normally my husband and I would figure it out on the fly but this is our first trip to France with our children so I'd like to have it figured out beforehand if possible. Thanks so much for your help!
The Carte Orange has been replaced by the Navigo Transportation Pass (Paris Passe Navigo Decouverte). Each card is 5Euro just for the card plus o/a 17 Euro zones 1 & 2, 33 Euros up to zone 5. Pass starts on Monday morning so if you buy it Sunday you are, as they say screwed. This is really something you need to research yourself. Check out relevant information on About.com
